South Newbury Union Church

launches Open and Affirming Process

Our congregation is about to begin a process enabling us to discern if we want to be an "Open and Affirming" congregation of the United Church of Christ.  "Open and Affirming" (also known as "ONA") designates congregations who seek to be fully welcoming and inclusive of all persons, in particular people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer.  This process has been authorized by our Deacon Board and will be supported by ONA resources from the New Hampshire Conference and the ONA Coalition of the UCC.

Coming up Tuesday October 27, 7 PM on Zoom:   . Gordon Crouch, pastor of First Congregational Church UCC, of Hopkinton, will discuss Biblical references to LGBTQ issues as well as Biblical calls for inclusiveness and welcome.  We'll share the zoom link a few days before that event.

Coming up Sunday, November 8, following worship: an in-person and Facebook live presentation by Gerrie Cannon.

Watch this brief video introducing our ONA process featuring the ONA team of Gail Bostic, Keira Rand, and Roberta Daw.
